Prolific Nigerian Writer, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, celebrates her birthday today, Thursday.
Born on 15th September, 1977, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, is the recipient of numerous international awards and recognitions.
Among her works stands out her premier write-up, the novel, “Half of a Yellow Sun.”
That piece hit so much international acclaim, that it was eventually made into a movie!
Chimamanda was born in Enugu state and experienced the fallout of the disastrous Civil War that rocked Nigeria from 1967-1970 where over 2.5milliom Biafrans reportedly died in.
The history of the Civil War helped shape the centre focus of many of her books.
She attended the Eastern Connecticut State University, Drexel University and Yale University, U.S.A.
Among numerous awards bagged by this prolific novelist are the “Women’s Prize For Fiction,” “National Book Critics Circle Award For Fiction,” and many others.
She is happily married to her husband, Ivara Esege and has one known sibling, Uche Adichie.
