Nigerian, Israel Adesanya, has just defeated Jared Cannonier in their UFC Middleweight bout this morning, Sunday.
“The Last Stylebender” as he is mostly referred to as, won the five round battle against “The Killa Gorilla.”
Adesanya won by a convincing unanimous decision after all three judges awarded the Nigerian victory by margins of four and five rounds.
“He had an excellent game plan; it was really hard to get my follow-ups going, my second phases going,” Adesanya said after the fight.
The bout was, however, marred by boos from large sections of the crowd who supposedly expected a better challenge.
Adesanya is already looking forward to his next fight–one he bills against eternal arch rival, Alex Pereira.
“You know who’s next,” Adesanya reminded fans.
Pereira had defeated the Nigerian, albeit, while in the kickboxing category.
Adesanya was, however, quick to point out that the loss was an “error.”
“The first time, I told you, was an error on my part.
“Next time I put you on skates, you’re going to be frozen,” he warned Pereira.
This fight was Adesanya’s fifth title defence and one he took in grand strides.
