The Premier League has announced the cancelation of this weekend’s English Premier League (EPL) fixtures.
The move, they say, is a “mark of respect” to Queen Elizabeth II following her demise late Thursday evening.
“As a mark of respect to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, this weekend’s Premier League match round will be postponed,” a tweet from the Premier League read.
The Premier League, also, explained that they reached this decision on Friday morning.
“At a meeting this morning, Premier League clubs paid tribute to her majest, Queen Elizabeth II.
“To honor her extraordinary life and contribution to the nation, and as a mark of respect, this weekend’s Premier League match round will be postponed, including Monday’s evening game.
“Further updates regarding Premier League Fixtures during the period of mourning will be provided in due course,” the Premier League wrote on its official website.
Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II passed on at the age of 96years (1926-2022).
