The Blues appeared from nowhere to head the queue for Cucurella’s signature.
Sources confirm that Chelsea are ready to pay the full £50million asking price set by parent club Brighton.
To further spicing things up, they are also willing to add their young defender, Levi Colwill, on loan as part of negotiations.
The player himself is even willing to move to Chelsea–whom he regards as a very big club.
Negotiations continue, but, no contracts have been signed as of yet.
Manchester City were thought to be in the driving seat for Cucurella, with the player also open to the move.
The Citizens were, however, reluctant to meet Brighton’s valuation of the player, instead, bidding £40million.
The gap in valuation by both parties has given Chelsea the room to enter and hijack the deal and sources say the Stamford Bridge outfit are moving really quickly on this one.
