News broke on Wednesday regarding the sack of the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, President Muhammadu Buhari.
However, Reno Omokri, the former Media Aide to ex President, Goodluck Jonathan, has come out to rubbish such reports.
According to a statement released via his Twitter handle, the famous Buhari critic referred to such reports as “false.”
He explained that a very impeccable source within the CBN has confirmed such stories regarding Emefiele’s sack as unfounded rumours.
He stated: “I spoke to a very top shot in the CBN about the news that Buhari sacked CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele. His response ‘as far as I know, it is false’.
While stressing that he has never been in support of Emefiele running for President while retaining his current seat at the same time, he, however, noted that it should not be cause to pull him down.
“I was against Emefiele running and retaining his post, but, don’t celebrate the downfall of a man God has not fallen,” Omokri warned.
Prominent public figure, JJ Omojuwa, also looked at the legal aspect of it while insisting that it was not in the power of the President to effect the sack of Emefiele unilaterally.
“As at the last time I checked, the President cannot sack the CBN Governor.
“I’d love to be corrected by those who know better,” Omojuwa noted, also.
